Accessibility
Portland Networking Guide aims to be usable by everyone. Our target is WCAG 2.1 level AA. This page states what works today and what is still untested, so readers are not promised more than the site delivers.
What works today
- Skip link. The first link on every page jumps to the main content.
- Keyboard structure. Interactive controls are buttons and links, with visible focus styles. A full live keyboard pass has not yet been completed. See Known gaps below.
- Images. The homepage hero image has alt text. Link preview images are decorative text banners.
- Contrast. Design tokens list measured contrast pairs, all above 4.5 to 1 for body text and badges. Older colors outside the token set have not all been re-measured.
- Headings. Pages use one main heading plus section headings, so screen reader users can navigate by heading.
- Reduced motion. The guide does not autoplay video or animation.
Known gaps
- Live keyboard pass not yet completed. Focus order and route announcements have not been tested with a keyboard alone.
- Screen reader test not yet done.
- Some older interactive panels may not announce route changes to assistive technology.
- Calendar downloads and map previews open third party services with their own accessibility.
Report a barrier
If you hit a barrier, email the editor at [email protected] with the subject Accessibility, the page, and what blocked you. We triage accessibility reports with corrections, same targets: acknowledge within 1 business day, resolve or answer within 5 business days. This target is not a guarantee.
